Power of 32 is the largest regional visioning initiative undertaken that engaged thousands of people across 32 counties in Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia to create a shared vision for a thriving future.
Through the Power of 32, we can think differently about our region's challenges - our role in the global economy, our quality of life, and our opportunities - and act in ways that set a new direction in the future. Every one of the 4.2 million people in our region can participate in the process and be heard. The Power of 32 enables us to create Regional Agenda and work together to make positive changes.
The government, business, nonprofit, and community leaders working together with the public is one legacy of the Power of 32 process that had all four sectors working together in every phase of the project, building capacity, collaboration, cooperation, and a support structure every step of the way. From Day One, the focus has been on implementation and ongoing success over a 2025 time horizon. Connecting across places and perspectives in the region to inspire new ways of thinking, building strong relationships, and generating the commitment required for a the region to thrive.
Some early successes of the Power of 32:
- A collective vision what is important to the people of our region and what we want to achieve.
- More than 150 people throughout our area were trained to facilitate community dialogues.
- Thousands of people from every sector, race, socio-economic status, education and age participated in 156 Community Conversations where they defined the strengths, challenges and opportunities for the region.
- Hundreds of leaders from all four states came together and the nonprofit, private and public sectors to forge relationships, solve problems and create actionable projects to improve the quality of life for everyone.

Curious about the Process?
The Power of 32 began with months of in-depth research on each of the counties, while building relationships with community leaders and stakeholders across the region. Once a blueprint had been developed with AmericaSpeaks, the Power of 32 began the following three phases:
